It makes me want to dance every time! • Favorite media practitioner: Cathy Yang. I interviewed her for a class requirement before. The way she carries herself with grace, professionalism, and poise in everything she does inspires me to do well in the future. • Favorite musician: Adele. Why or why not? I think it can be played legally in the internet. But since the song contains cuss words, it must be labelled accordingly (for example, "explicit" or the likes of it) and/or preferably, they must produce another version of the song without the cuss words. Is it covered by the free speech clause? Why or why not? No, because the song doesn't attack or defame a person or group. Also, it is an intellectual property. Is the cursing gratuitous or is it justified by the context/ content? Why or why not? The song, "Pare Ko" by Eraserheads, expresses the frustration and hurt of the singer when the college girl he likes rejected his advances, hence the cuss words used in a context of frustration, anger, and hopelessness because he likes her so much. For me, the use of the cuss words are unnecessary. Their usage in the song is an informal way of making it easy to express the strong feelings of the singer, but I believe there are other words that can be used or changes in the songs that can be done to avoid the cuss words. For example, the word, "gag*hin" can be replaced by a variation of the word "niloko" or "sinaktan".
