I am a mechanical engineer with over 20 years of residential HVAC design and diagnostics. I helped develop the very first home energy rating system (HERS) in CA back in the early 1990's. I have written and taught dozens of professional-level classes on HVAC, energy codes, energy auditing, energy modeling, and other building science topics. I live in northern CA with my wonderful wife and two teenage sons. My hobbies are photography, nature, hiking, camping, fishing, watercolor painting, snorkeling, making slide shows and short videos with music, and writing "stories". I learned the art of telling stories from my relatives in the deep south. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. i.e., it's perfectly OK to embellish as long as it entertains. My first book is set in the Aleutian Islands, where I went to high school. My high school was Bob Reeve High School (BRHS). Unfortunately, it no longer exists because they closed the Naval base there. Growing up, I lived in many wonderful places, including Florida, Hawaii (twice), Japan, all over California, and Alaska. Adak was by far my favorite place.
